About Us

This website and the associated booklet were developed by an inter- Departmental/Agency working group on energy affordability. In the summer of 2008, the Department of Communications Energy and Natural Resources convened an inter Departmental/Agency Group on Affordable Energy to coordinate and drive policy in the area of affordable energy.

The relevant Departments and Agencies are working with the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) and Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) as well as ESB Electric Ireland and Bord Gáis to ensure shared understanding of the challenges and actions underway and to ensure a fully cohesive strategic approach to delivery. The key Departments concerned are Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Social Protection, Finance, Environment, Community and Local Government, Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Health and Children, Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

The Department of Taoiseach will be kept fully briefed and involved as the work of the Group progresses. A range of other agencies (e.g. Age Action; National Consumer Agency) will also be invited to attend as well as being consulted on an ongoing basis.

This website reflects all the services available to households that may struggle to keep their houses warm. It includes contact details for all the agencies along with a description of the services provided.

The website is also supported by a booklet which is freely available in both English and Irish by either emailing warmerhomes@seai.ie or calling 1800 250 204
